Cinquecento's in Trani (Fiat 500's)

First it was this incescent tinny honking that drew us to the window. It sounded like a parade coming through...and sure enough, it was the Cinquecentos!!! There must have been some gathering of Fiat 500 car owners and they were having a blast (literally) driving through town.

Here is a whole line of them!

Launched as the Nuova (new) 500 in July 1957, it was marketed as a cheap and practical town car. Measuring only 3 metres (~10 feet) long, and originally powered by a tiny 479 cc two-cylinder, air-cooled engine, the 500 redefined the term "small car" and is considered one of the first city cars.*

Just adorable!!!

Perhaps you would like one in citrus orange or pumpkin...

Yellow or white???

Oh, don't know how this snuck in there....

And off they go!

In 1995 the British band Lush wrote a song about the 500

In the movie Cars the character Luigi is a Fiat 500

Smallest car to go around the world. How long did it take? Ninty nine days! In May 2007 a 1969 Fiat 500 left Australia and after 32,000 road kilometers returned.

It is as wide as it is high 1.32 meters (52 inches)
