One of the things I love about being in a small town like Trani is that we can walk out our front door and find ourselves in some new and unexpected adventure. Recently we learned that our friend, Katherine Wright, a Boeing expat like ourselves, was taking part in an art/philosophy discussion in the old town. We set off to find her.
This is Katherine with some of her watercolor paintings behind her.
There was a pretty good crowd gathered in a small piazza near where we used to live. I love this part of the old town because the streets are narrow and twisted and they glisten with the glow of the marble that everything is made of and has been quarried just outside of town for centuries.
Here is a faraway look of some of her art. Very colorful.
Rick and Katherine's husband, Chris, listened for a while...in Italian, of course.
This is a view from the sinagoga down the street to where we once lived.
Some of the houses surrounding the piazza and in front of the sinagoga.
Well, listening to talks of art and philosophy in Italian can get rather mind numbing for those of us not fluent in the language so Rick, Chris and I went to the port for an evening drink to relax and enjoy some quiet time.
Back at the piazza I was glad to see a few bikes. I have seen more around town lately. I think people are realizing this is the perfect city to pedal around in and not fight for parking spaces. Too much chaos in a car around here!
Besides the art/philosophy talk there was a great jazz group entertaining.
Trani continues to impress.
